These horses were purebreds of other breeds who either exhibited the running walk gait, or were able to produce descendants who gaited.  Some were awarded numbers  in the Tennessee Walking Horse registry. Most were giants within their original breeds as well. They contributed beauty, size and refinement. Although some of these breeds are extinct, their influence can still be seen in the Tennessee Walking Horses of today.
